Your Simpler, Smarter Bank

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. CI/CD Pipeline Development & Maintenance
  • Build, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for banking applications — internet banking, mobile banking APIs, USSD gateways, and core banking integrations.
  • Implement multi-stage pipeline workflows: code compilation, unit testing, integration testing, SAST, DAST, container image scanning, and deployment to dev, UAT, staging, and production environments.
  • Maintain and improve pipeline-as-code definitions stored in version control; apply peer-review discipline to all pipeline changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CI/CD pipeline failures promptly; communicate impact to development squads and escalate systemic issues to the Team Lead.
  • Support the implementation of GitOps practices for declarative, auditable Kubernetes deployments.
  • Document all pipeline configurations, deployment procedures, and runbooks in the team’s knowledge base.
  1. Container & Kubernetes Administration
  • Build, tag, and optimise Docker container images for banking application workloads; enforce image-layering best practices to minimise attack surface and image size.
  • Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes clusters ( AKS ) — write and maintain Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress).
  • Monitor pod health, resource utilisation (CPU/memory limits and requests), and horizontal pod autoscaler (HPA) behaviour; resolve OOMKill events and CrashLoopBackOff failures.
  • Administer container image registry (ACR); perform routine vulnerability scans on images and remediate critical findings.
  • Support the Team Lead in enforcing Kubernetes RBAC, network policies, and pod security standards across namespaces.
  1. Infrastructure as Code & Cloud Operations
  • Write and maintain Terraform or Ansible code to provision and manage cloud infrastructure (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VMs, load balancers) in a repeatable, version-controlled manner.
  • Follow IaC peer-review and approval workflows; ensure all infrastructure changes are tracked in Git and applied through approved pipelines — no manual console changes.
  • Support cloud cost management: tag all resources correctly, identify idle or over-provisioned resources, and report savings opportunities to the Team Lead.
  • Assist in managing cloud IAM roles, service accounts, and least-privilege policies across Azure environment.
  • Participate in cloud environment housekeeping: decommissioning stale resources, rotating access keys, and verifying backup configurations.
  1. Observability & Incident Response
  • Configure and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting rules for application services, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Respond to platform and pipeline alerts within defined SLAs; perform initial root-cause analysis and escalate to the Team Lead or relevant infrastructure team as appropriate.
  • Participate in the DevOps on-call rotation; provide timely first-response for P1/P2 CI/CD and platform incidents affecting digital banking services.
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews (PIRs): document findings, identify contributing factors, and implement assigned remediation actions.
  • Track and report key pipeline and platform health metrics (build success rate, deployment frequency, MTTR) to the Team Lead weekly.
  1. DevSecOps & Compliance
  • Integrate and maintain security scanning tools within CI/CD pipelines — SAST, DAST (OWASP ZAP), dependency scanning (OWASP Dependency-Check), and secrets detection.
  • Ensure pipeline security gates are enforced: no release promotes to production if critical SAST, DAST, or image-scanning findings remain unresolved.
  • Manage secrets and credentials using approved vaults (Azure Key Vault); eliminate hardcoded credentials from codebases and pipeline configurations.
  • Support the Bank’s compliance with CBN Cybersecurity Framework, PCI-DSS Requirement 6 (secure development), ISO 27001 Annex A.14, and the NDPA 2023 data-handling requirements in pipeline and deployment processes.
  • Prepare DevOps toolchain and pipeline evidence for internal audits, CBN IT examinations, and PCI-DSS QSA reviews as directed by the Team Lead.
  1. Automation & Continuous Improvement
  • Write Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive DevOps tasks — environment provisioning, log collection, health checks, certificate rotation, and deployment notifications.
  • Identify manual steps in the software delivery process and propose automation solutions to the Team Lead; implement approved improvements.
  • Contribute to the Bank’s internal developer platform (IDP): maintain golden-path pipeline templates, Terraform modules, and Helm chart libraries for use by development squads.
  • Stay current with CI/CD, container, cloud, and DevSecOps developments; share relevant learnings and tool evaluations with the DevOps team.
  • Support onboarding of new development squads onto the CI/CD platform: provide documentation, walkthroughs, and first-line pipeline support.
